Causes for Oily Hair:

The sebaceous glands present on the scalp secretes sebum (oil). This is good for the hair as it prevents it from drying and breaking. But when excessive oil is produced it can cause a blemish in your beauty.

Shampoo for Oily Hair:

1. Make Your Own Honey Shampoo:

Honey is one of the best choices for oily hair as it will not strip the hair and scalp from oils. The acidic nature of honey will maintain the pH of the scalp and will help you to get rid of the dandruff problem. It will make your hair smooth, shiny, wavy and less frizzy. The antibacterial properties of honey will deal with other problems of your scalp.

Method of Preparation:

  • Take a bowl and add 3 tablespoons of filtered water.
  • Add one tablespoon of raw honey.
  • Heat them to dissolve the honey. Keep the flame low.
  • Add a few drops of lavender oil and carrot seed oil. Lavender oil is for fragrance and for flaky issues of the scalp. The carrot seed oil will nourish the hair.

  • Rinse off with water.

  • Take 3 tablespoons of fuller’s earth in a bowl.
  • Add a little water to make a paste.

  • Wash your hair with lukewarm water.

4. Lemon and Cucumber Shampoo for Oily Hair:

  • Peel one lemon and one cucumber.

  • Add a little water to make a paste.
  • Apply the shampoo on the roots of your hair.

6. Aloe Vera Shampoo for Oily Hair:

Aloe Vera is one of the best choices for hair nourishment. The vitamins and enzymes present in Aloe Vera control the oil secretion. It nourishes the hair and makes them smooth.

Method of Preparation:

  • Take a cup of any mild shampoo.
  • Add one tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel.
  • Add one Tablespoon of lemon juice.

Note: You can use this shampoo for one week if you keep it in a refrigerator.

  • Boil a cup of water.
  • Add rosemary and sage.
  • Steep it for about 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Strain it, and add a few drops of jojoba oil.
  • Massage on your scalp and hair.

10. Black Tea for Oily Hair:

The tannic acid present in black tea helps to reduce the excess oil buildup on your scalp. It tightens the pore to control the oil secretion.

How to Use:

  • Take a cup of water in a pan.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of black tea.
  • Boil it for about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Strain it, and allow to cool.
  • Wash your hair with this lukewarm water.
  • Do this twice or thrice a week.
